Why I hate the road....

Some may say that this is not a poem
It does not rhyme the way others do
It does not raise you up
It does not talk about love, sex, or politics
It does not have certain rhythm or pattern that poems are supposed to adhere to.
It does not speak of destiny, religion, mystical feelings, or anything even remotely funny.
It is, however, filled with strong feelings, that some may say, is all that is necessary to be a poem.
This poem is about why I hate the road...
I hate the road because it leads to everywhere and nothing
it divides and aligns as it pleases
Not think about the many tragedies it has caused through accidents, its destruction or construction as the case may be
I hate the road because it doesn't slow or mourn what it causes
it doesn't care for those it leaves behind with broken homes, lives, hearts
But most of all I hate the road because it took you away from me.

oh, but think of what the road can bring! alas, i understand why you hate the road, but i think you may give the road more control over what occurs on it than the road can bear. why the road does not determine its destinations, nor does it control who chooses to travel it. you, too, could leave someone else hating the road. and wouldn't you hate the road more if it didn't give you the chance to go? :)
